Australia’s June 2026 Poisons Standard lists Thymosin Beta-4 in Schedule 4 and Appendix D. Find the exact entries, official source and legal limits.

The Poisons Standard is a federal legislative instrument. It classifies scheduled substances and supplies a model that Australian states and territories implement through their own medicines and poisons laws. It is not a product approval register and it should not be read in isolation when determining whether a particular activity is authorised.

Where the Thymosin Beta-4 entries appear

  • Schedule 4: “THYMOSIN BETA 4 (THYMOSIN β4)” appears with a # marker.
  • Appendix D, section 5: the table includes separate entries for “TB-500” and “THYMOSIN BETA 4 (THYMOSIN β4)”.

What Schedule 4 and Appendix D mean

Schedule 4 is headed “Prescription only medicines and prescription animal remedies”. Appendix D identifies additional controls. In the 2026 instrument, section 5 is headed “Poisons for which possession without authority is illegal”. The applicable authority, exemptions, record requirements and supply rules depend on the facts and the legislation in the relevant state or territory.

A Research Use Only label is not a legal exemption

Labelling a product Research Use Only describes intended use. It does not, by itself, displace the Poisons Standard or state and territory controls. Anyone handling, possessing or supplying a scheduled substance should verify the current instrument and obtain advice specific to their jurisdiction and activity.

  • Open the June 2026 Poisons Standard on the Federal Register of Legislation.
  • Search the instrument for the exact substance name and common aliases.
  • Check the Schedule entry, any # marker and the relevant Appendix D table.
  • Check the implementing law and regulator guidance for the relevant state or territory.
  • Record the instrument version and date because the Standard changes over time.

Separate question: ARTG status

The Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and the Poisons Standard answer different questions. A scheduling entry does not establish that a product is included in the ARTG. Confirm each status from its own official register rather than inferring one from the other.
